Find the right AWS assessment for the decision in front of you.
An assessment here is a point-in-time, scope-bounded look at a specific AWS problem — not a subscription, not monitoring, not a standing audit. One is free with no qualification: the Free AWS Assessment, one hour, verbal only. Three are narrower diagnostics that route into Consulting, Support and Advisory, or your own team’s backlog. Every free tier delivers real value live and produces nothing written; every written, quantified deliverable in this family is a scoped Consulting engagement with no standard public price.
Four entries, one canonical rule: nothing here is a priced diagnostic SKU, and every paid depth is a scoped Consulting engagement.

Entry |
Commercial status | Duration | Access model | Exact output |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Free AWS Assessment |
Active, $0, no qualification beyond a real AWS question | 1 hour, Pacific business hours | No account access; conversation only | Verbal findings and recommendations on the call. Nothing written. |
AWS Migration Strategy Workshop |
Complimentary ($0), request-based; qualified before scheduling | ~3.5–4.0 facilitated hours (half day) | No AWS account access; whiteboard-driven from what you show and say | A shared view of viable migration approaches and a sequencing sketch you capture yourself. No written plan, wave chart, or deck from Uptempo. |
AWS Security Posture Session (free tier) |
Complimentary ($0), request-based | 1 hour, Pacific business hours | You run a read-only, client-owned scanner; Uptempo never receives a role or your data | Live, guided interpretation of the findings you generated. Nothing written from Uptempo. |
AWS Security Posture depth (paid tier) |
Scoped Consulting engagement, no standard public price | Per SOW | Per SOW; disclosed dependencies | Written findings register with prioritized, scope-bounded recommendations. |
Cost and Cloud Health (free preview) |
$0, folded into the Free AWS Assessment | Within the existing 1-hour assessment | None; you share Cost Explorer or similar on screen | Verbal observations on spend and hygiene. No written report, no savings figure. |
Cost and Cloud Health (paid depth) |
Scoped Consulting engagement, no standard public price | Per SOW | Per SOW | Written findings register with prioritized, quantified, scope-bounded recommendations. No savings guarantee. |
The Migration Strategy Workshop and the Security Posture Session are not schedulable from a calendar today. Both are request paths — you submit a request, Uptempo qualifies it, then proposes times. Neither reuses the verified one-hour Free AWS Assessment calendar event; it is the wrong duration for one and identity-bound to a different offer for the other. The Cost and Cloud Health free preview has no such gap — it rides the existing, live Free AWS Assessment booking flow.
How to tell which entry fits
- You're not sure yet, or the question is broad. Start with the Free AWS Assessment. It is built to triage, not to presuppose the answer.
- You have an actual workload or portfolio to move, and the team that knows it can commit half a day. That's the Migration Strategy Workshop. Without a defined target and an estate-literate engineer available, the free hour is the better fit.
- You already have, or can stand up, a read-only role and can run a scanner yourself. That's the Security Posture Session. Uptempo does not operate scanning tooling inside a client account today.
- The question is the AWS bill, or whether spend and hygiene match what you're actually running. Start in the Free AWS Assessment — cost is already an explicit topic there. The Cost and Cloud Health Assessment is the paid, written version once the free conversation says a quantified report is worth commissioning.
How each entry routes onward
Every branch out of the free hour terminates in one of five honest outcomes: a scoped Consulting project, a paid assessment depth (itself a Consulting engagement), Support and Advisory monthly capacity, a client-owned backlog item, or no engagement. "No engagement" is not a failure state on this page — it is a legitimate result of the free hour.
- Broad or undefined AWS/DevOps problem → Consulting (scoped SOW)
- Recurring backlog, not a single project → Support and Advisory
- Migration or modernization decision, right people available → the Migration Strategy Workshop (request), then the AWS Migration Roadmap (Consulting, scoped)
- Security misconfiguration question, you can run a scanner → the Security Posture Session (request), then the paid depth (Consulting, scoped)
- Cost or spend question already answered verbally → done, or the Cost and Cloud Health Assessment (Consulting, scoped)
- Team can handle it, or no engagement fits → a client-owned backlog item (a legitimate outcome)
The anti-resurrection boundary
- No priced diagnostic SKUs on this page or its children. Every paid depth in this family is a scoped Consulting engagement with no standard public price.
- No written deliverable in any free tier. The Free AWS Assessment, the Migration Strategy Workshop, and the Security Posture Session each deliver real value live and produce nothing written. A written report, deck, or findings register is always the paid product.
- No Uptempo access to a client AWS account in any free tier. The Security Posture Session works from a scanner you deploy and run yourself, under your own credentials, in your own account.
- No audit, penetration test, certification, or compliance-guarantee language anywhere in this family. Findings are observations as of the assessment date, within a stated scope — never a standing guarantee.
- No AWS program affiliation. Uptempo is independent of AWS's own Migration Readiness Assessment (MRA) program, delivered by AWS and its partners.
- Staffing. Every session in this family is staffed by a senior AWS engineer. Capacity, a named lead, and an access plan are confirmed before any paid engagement begins.
- Cancellation. Any complimentary session can be rescheduled or canceled by email at no cost and with no obligation.
Check this before the first call
- Review Security and Trust for how Uptempo accesses (or, for the free tiers in this family, does not access) a client AWS account.
- Review Case Studies for the representative work and case-study publication boundary.
- Review Consulting for what "fixed price per scoped SOW" actually means before a paid assessment depth reaches that stage.
