Consulting

AWS and DevOps projects, built to hand off.

Bring the platform problem that needs a defined finish: a landing zone, Terraform platform, GitHub Actions pipeline, migration, modernization, network, security control, or cost remediation. We scope the outcome, build it in your accounts and repositories, document it, and leave your team able to run it.

One hour with the engineer who does the work. Verbal advice, no obligation, no deck.

Scoped to finish, built to hand off

The SOW states the deliverables, timeline, assumptions, exclusions, and fixed price before work starts. If the scope changes, we re-scope it and agree in writing before changed work continues. Engagement-specific work lands in your repositories as pull requests from the first commit, with reusable dependencies and their continuing-access terms disclosed in the handoff.

Landing zones and multi-account AWS

AWS Organizations structure, service control policies, IAM Identity Center, centralized logging, and network accounts — implemented as code. The goal is an account model your team can explain, extend, and audit without us.

  • Greenfield landing zones — organization structure, guardrails, identity, logging, and account vending
  • Multi-account retrofits — moving an organically grown estate toward a governed structure
  • Regional and account-scale patterns — common defaults with deliberate exceptions, not copied configuration

Terraform and module engineering

We build in Terraform. We write reusable modules, separate state along operational boundaries, codify existing infrastructure, and put every planned change behind a reviewable pipeline. The handoff is ordinary Terraform your team can own.

  • Module libraries — versioned modules with examples, tests, documentation, and upgrade paths
  • State and repository design — enough separation for safe plans without creating hundreds of copies to maintain
  • Brownfield adoption — import, reconcile, and move hand-built infrastructure behind pull requests

GitHub Actions, CI/CD, and GitOps

Application and infrastructure pipelines with short-lived AWS credentials, visible plan output, review gates, environment promotion, and a path your team can debug. The workflow is part of the platform, not an afterthought.

  • GitHub Actions pipelines for Terraform, applications, containers, and serverless workloads
  • OIDC federation, least-privilege deployment roles, pinned actions, and auditable promotion
  • GitOps patterns for infrastructure and Kubernetes where the operating model fits

Migrations, modernization, and focused AWS builds

Consulting is broader than a migration catalog. A project may be a wave plan and cutover, an EKS or ECS platform, a VPC and hybrid network, an EC2 fleet, a database move, or the controls that make an existing environment operable.

  • Migration planning and execution — dependency-aware waves with rollback planned before cutover
  • Modernization increments — containers, managed databases, and serverless where they fit the workload
  • Focused platform builds — networking, compute, storage, databases, security controls, and delivery pipelines

Security, networking, and cost are part of the engineering

IAM least privilege, network paths, audit evidence, resilience, and the AWS bill belong inside the design. A cost problem may lead to a focused Consulting engagement, but it is not forced into a separate SKU. The work is scoped around the outcome the assessment uncovers.

What a scoped engagement looks like

Assessment

The Free AWS Assessment is the verbal scoping entry. If the work fits, a separate written proposal follows after scoping.

The SOW

Deliverables, timeline, assumptions, exclusions, and one fixed price. Half the fee on signature schedules the work; the remainder is due on acceptance.

Delivery

Code lands in your repositories as pull requests, with review or demonstration at the milestones the SOW defines.

Handoff

Engagement-specific IaC, pipelines, diagrams, runbooks, dependency records, and knowledge transfer with the people who will operate it.

After

A 60-day support window while your team takes over. Ongoing capacity is available separately through Support and Advisory.

Fixed price per scoped SOW

Every project is scoped individually. After scoping, you receive a written fixed price tied to the agreed deliverables, assumptions, and exclusions. Public monthly-capacity rates are listed on Pricing.

The same engineer from scope through handoff

Uptempo Cloud is one senior engineer. Some projects need a delivery bench we do not pretend to have. If yours does, you will hear it during the assessment. Access, continuity, and one-person risk get direct answers on Security and Trust.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of project fits Consulting?

A defined AWS or DevOps outcome that can be scoped to a finish: landing zones, Terraform platforms, modules, GitHub Actions, GitOps, migrations, modernization, networking, security remediation, cost remediation, or a focused workload build.

What does fixed scope and fixed price mean?

The SOW defines deliverables, timeline, assumptions, exclusions, and price before work starts. If requirements change, we re-scope the changed work and agree it in writing before continuing.

What does handoff include?

Engagement-specific code in your repositories, architecture diagrams matching what shipped, runbooks, a manifest of reusable or external dependencies and their continuing-access terms, and knowledge transfer. Ownership and reusable-material licensing follow the engagement terms.

Can you stay after the project?

Yes, when capacity is available. Support and Advisory is a separate monthly engineering-capacity engagement. It is not managed services, monitoring, incident response, or a 24x7 pager.

Start with the problem, not a preset package

Use the free hour to map the outcome, constraints, and likely engagement shape. Findings and recommendations are verbal; paid written work begins only after a separate scope is agreed.
